Desktop BSD

DesktopBSD is a FreeBSD based version of BSD Unix; it's not a "fork" of FreeBSD but rather a customised version with software preinstalled for desktop use. DesktopBSD's main goal is to provide a BSD based desktop operating system that is easy to configure and use; it uses KDE as the window manager.

Order Desktop BSD 1.6

DesktopBSD 1.6 was released on January 9th 2008. It is based on the second release candidate of FreeBSD's upcoming production release 6.3 and provides the user with an enhanced KDE 3.5.8 desktop environment. The CD version contains less software than the DVD version. Notably, OpenOffice.org is not included on the CD version. It is recommended to get the DVD version if your computer has a DVD player.

For more information, read the release announcement and release notes on the DesktopBSD website.
